What do Cells look like?!

Monday, October 24, 2016 Your Objective: Students will come up with “need to knows” after observing cells under a microscope Catalyst(18L): Write the steps for using a microscope properly Homework: N/A Short Week! Agenda: Catalyst Preparing a wet mount Looking under the microscope

18L 18R Write the steps for using a microscope properly Catalyst: Cell observations_ 10/24/16 Catalyst: Write the steps for using a microscope properly The first step for using a microscope properly is… Reflection: 18L 18R

How to use the microscopes LOW and MEDIUM POWER Place the slide on the stage Stage clips are not necessary Click nosepiece to the low (shortest) power lens Look into the eyepiece Turn the coarse focus knob until image is clear

Once the slide is focused, rotate the nosepiece to the medium power lens Refocus using the coarse focus knob Move slide to get a centered view HIGH POWER Your slide MUST be focused on medium power before attempting this step. Once it is focused and centered on medium power, DO NOT MOVE the slide. Click the nosepiece to the high power lens Do NOT use the coarse focus knob Refocus using the fine focus knob.
