NUTS AND BOLTS Ms. Tufano Spring, 2016 1
Ms. Tufano
The Basics. Be kind to one another. Use kind language. Be respectful of everyone/everything. Keep our space clean. Leave your drama/attitude at the door. 3
General Rules. Follow all AK rules (as stated in Student Handbook). Be HERE, be ON TIME, and be AWAKE. Keep cell phones on silent or off AND put away. Agenda and Student ID have to be on you AT ALL TIMES. Do your own work; don’t share your work (giving and accepting someone else’s work are BOTH grounds for a referral). Don’t ask to go to the bathroom unless it’s an emergency. And, especially don’t ask when I’m teaching. 4
Ms. Tufano Must-Haves. If absent: go to “Missing Work” bin, check class website, THEN ask me for further assistance (if needed). No eating in class; only water in clear bottles Wait to throw away trash at the END of class or during transition time (not while I’m teaching). No complaining. Seriously. Don’t ask me when something is going to be graded. I promise it will be done as quickly as possible. Be eager to participate and learn! High school English can be as fun and engaging as YOU make it! 5
Daily Procedures. All work is due at the beginning of class; after that = late. Work on daily warm-up without me telling you to do so. Copy down homework in your agenda; write the day’s objective(s) and essential question(s) in your notebook; they are written on the whiteboard at the front. If the Objectives are the same from the previous day, just write “Continued from…” and put that date. For late work, write at the top “1 Day Late,” “2 Days Late,” “3 Days Late,” etc. and put in late work bin at my desk. Check my Weebly every day for any clarification of assignments and/or reading material or notes.
