Writing Science Explanations

Claim What should the blank side of the cube look like? The blank side of the cube should have a bold, shaded in 2. The blank side of the cube should have a shaded in 2.

Claim What is the effect of the amount of time clicking the clothespin on the number of clicks? While doing the clothespin project, my number of clicks increased then decreased. As the amount of time clicking the clothespin increased the number of clicks went up then down.

Evidence A. The even numbers on the cube are shaded in. The blank side of the cube should be shaded. A. The even numbers on the cube are shaded in. The odd numbers on the cube, 1, 3 and 5, are not shaded in. The even numbers on the cube, 4 and 6, are shaded in gray.

Evidence What is the effect of the amount of time clicking the clothespin on the number of clicks? When I clicked the clothespin for 1 minute I had 93 clicks and then in trial 2 I had 108. Trial 3 went down to 90. Trial 4 was 87 clicks. After clicking the clothespin for one minute I had 115 clicks but after the fourth minute I got 138 clicks.

Reasoning The blank side of the cube should be shaded. There is a pattern with the odd and even numbers on the cube so I think the side of the cube with the 2 should be shaded like the other even numbers. Since all the odd numbers on the cube aren’t shaded and all the even numbers are shaded, I think the 2 should be shaded because it is an even number like 4 and 6.

Reasoning What is the effect of the amount of time clicking the clothespin on the number of clicks? A. I don’t think my numbers of clicks make sense because they went up and down. Since I was using skeletal muscle to click the clothespin the numbers should have kept going down. I was using skeletal muscles to click the clothespin and skeletal muscle tires quickly. That makes me think my numbers of clicks doesn’t make sense because if skeletal muscle tires quickly, then the number of clicks should keep getting smaller but mine went up and down.
