Fun Facts For your husky, the world is one big chew toy. Huskies are estimated to live 12 to 15 years. They shed two times a year, and need to be brushed during this time daily. The term Husky comes from the name Esky, which one time applied to the Eskimo dogs. Since 1967, huskies have impressed the world at the Iditarod Great Sled Race, the world’s longest sled-dog event, stretching across Alaska for 1,049 miles.

Puppies Healthy puppies have pure eyes and glossy coats, and are bouncy and sociable. Playing with toys from puppyhood reassures good manners and social skills throughout your dog’s life. A husky should never be in the middle of a power struggle between children and parents. And also, the crunchiness of dog food will keep your dog’s teeth healthy.

Adulthood Siberian Huskies are strong, hardworking sled dogs. The color of the muzzle depends upon the shade of the dog’s fur. Their eyes can be half blue and half brown (parti-eyed), they can have one blue eye and one brown eye (bi-eyed), and they can also have two eyes of the same color. Their ears stick up and their tails are rounded. Their big snow shoe feet have fleece in between their toes to help keep them temperate and to help them hold on to the frost.

Training Stages Siberian Huskies are caring, calm and spirited, dogs that are very social and love to be with people. Huskies are very bright and trainable, but they will only follow the command if they see the human is tougher minded than themselves. If you don’t display guidance, they will not see the point in listening. Huskies make an exceptional jogging buddy, as long as it’s not too warm.
