Word Study – Vocabulary Words What words come to mind when you see these words? These may be words you don’t know, but let’s change that! on purpose hanging out hopeless inappropriate secrets deliberately lingering despairingly lecherous surreptitiously

Step 2: First Reading Characterization Look Fors: Characterization Setting and Text Evidence that Proves It Summary

Step 3: Second Reading Look Fors: WHY does McCauig choose to develop Elaine’s character in the manner he does? WHY does McCauig describe the characters in the manner he does? HOW does McCauig develop the characters in a way to elicit an emotional response from the reader?

Step 4: After Reading Let’s Discuss! Now is your chance to ask any questions or add your ideas. Show What You Know! Choose one of the two writing prompts. These types of prompts will show me that you truly understand what you read and can apply it to you own writing and thinking.
