Programme Rep Election

Why do we have Programme Reps? There are 10 Departments and approximately 56 programmes at Roehampton. These programmes are likely to have at least 3 year groups. YOUR PROGRAMME is one of these, and we know you have feedback - things are good, but some could be improved. We want to hear your feedback to make changes for you! Programme Reps are the voice of students to raise matters that are affecting students to ensure students are having the best experience at Roehampton. They are the link between the students and the lecturer to implement changes. It is really important that all the feedback is passed on to both the RSU and University to recognise occurring issues and to ensure that the feedback is acted upon. This means at least 168 groups of students are living their university experience at Roehampton.

What does a programme Rep Do? Attend Rep Training and Rep Fest. Attend Programme Boards (1 per term). Attend Departmental Rep Forums (1 per term). Represent students on the programme and take their feedback and ideas to the University and Students’ Union, both formally and informally. Communicate with students to keep them up to date with the latest issues, news and updates. Feedback to students what happened with their feedback and any changes that occurred in meetings. Promote and encourage participation of surveys, such as module evaluation and NSS. Programme reps learn and develop their communication, decision making, people management, negotiation, leadership, teamwork, time management, organisation and problem solving skills, the role looks great on your CV, and you get to create positive change and be the spokesperson for your programme

What happens now? RSU would recommend every Programme to have 1 Programme Rep per year of study (at least) Week 1: Programme Rep induction: you can put yourself forward for the position – let your lecturer know in class! Week 2: Your Lecturer will facilitate an election where all students have an opportunity to vote for who they want to be the programme rep(s) for your yeargroup. If you have been chosen to be the programme rep for your class please contact studentvoice@Roehampton.ac.uk to let us know who you are and we will invite you to training! Email studentvoice@roehampton.ac.uk if you have any questions.
