Divisibility 2,5 and 10

Divisibility Rule for 2 A number is divisible by 2, if it is an EVEN NUMBER If a number has 0,2,4,6,8 in its ones place it is divisible by 2 One’s place has digit 6. ∴ 596 is divisible by 2 HUNDREDS TENS ONES 5 9 6

Divisibility 2 rule 372 530 815 924 459 168 One’s place has digit 2 ∴ 372 is divisible by 2 530 One’s place has digit 0 ∴ 530 is divisible by 2 815 One’s place does not have digits 0,2,4,6,8 ∴ 815 is not divisible by 2 924 One’s place has digit 4 ∴ 924 is divisible by 2 459 One’s place does not have digits 0,2,4,6,8 ∴ 459 is not divisible by 2 168 One’s place has digit 8 ∴ 168 is divisible by 2

Divisibility Rule for 5 If a number has 0 or 5 in its ones place it is divisible by 5 . HUNDREDS TENS ONES 2 5 One’s place has digit 5, hence 205 is divisible by 5 7 3 One’s place has digit 0, hence 730 is divisible by 5

Divisibility 5 rule 285 316 790 405 658 140 One’s place has digit 5 ∴ 285 is divisible by 5 316 One’s place does not have digits 0 or 5 ∴ 316 is not divisible by 5 790 One’s place has digit 0 ∴ 790 is divisible by 5 405 One’s place has digit 5 ∴ 405 is divisible by 5 658 One’s place does not have digits 0 or 5 ∴ 658 is not divisible by 5 140 One’s place has digit 0 ∴ 140 is divisible by 5

Divisibility Rule for 10 If a number has 0 in its ones place it is divisible by 10 HUNDREDS TENS ONES 3 4 One’s place has digit 0. ∴ 340 is divisible by 10

Divisibility 10 rule 275 One’s place does not have digit 0 ∴ 275 is not divisible by 10 490 One’s place has digit 0 ∴ 490 is divisible by 10 518 One’s place does not have digit 0 ∴ 518 is not divisible by 10 301 One’s place does not have digit 0 ∴ 301 is not divisible by 10 780 One’s place has digit 0 ∴ 780 is divisible by 10 915 One’s place does not have digit 0 ∴ 915 is not divisible by 10
