HLC Update and Visit Preview D. Kent Johnson, Director of Assessment

Timeline June 30, 2017 – HLC Change in Control, Structure, or Organization Submitted for Review HLC selected two reviewers September 5-6, 2017 – Fact Finding Review October, 2017 – Staff Report prepared, Staff Report and Fact-Finding Report sent to IPFW and HLC Board IPFW response (if needed) must be submitted within 14 calendar days February 2018 – HLC Board Considers and Votes March 2018 – IPFW notified of decision

Fact Finding Visit - Preliminary Topics (subject to change) Overview of IPFW Overview of institution (PFW) after change in organization Financial and academic Impacts Reorganization and development plans for PFW Academic and administrative oversight Student support – both student affairs and academic support Legal/Contractual aspects of change

Fact Finding Visit – Institutional Participants Senior Leadership Team Purdue Board of Regents Representatives Academic Deans and Program Directors Students Faculty – Open Forum Student Affairs Enrollment Management/Academic Support Budget/Finance Purdue and IU Legal Representatives

Key Points for Realignment This is a “Change in Organization” PFW remains an independently accredited regional institution managed by Purdue WL just as IPFW was prior to the changes Purdue WL has always been the institution with managerial oversight for IPFW – this does not change HLC has allowed academic programs (consistent with IPFW Management Agreements) to be moved between Purdue and IU throughout our history This transaction differs as health sciences programs move solely under IU management and control as an “additional location” of IUPUI. The degree granting authority for PFW is expressly granted to Purdue in both the state authorization and the Program Transfer Agreement - this authority extends to degrees not historically granted by Purdue (e.g. Music). This is possible, in part, as a result of our status as an Independently Accredited Regional Institution.
