HOW CAN WE BEST HELP A STUDENT THAT IS… Struggling 1. What do you know about the student’s background? 2. Would a home visit help? 3. If the student is journaling, what can you learn from the student’s writing? Inattentive 1. Can student read the board? 2. Is the student an older sibling, and this serve at the surrogate parent? 3. Does the student work after school? 4. Could language be an issue? Disruptive 1. Is student involved in school? 2. Again, what is the home environment like? 3. Who does the student associate within and outside of school?

Reflection How often do you use the classroom as a space for wisdom and relevance? How well do your students know you? Do you have an atmosphere that is supportive of feedback?
