COFIWCH ABERFAN REMEMBER ABERFAN Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan Caru Cymru Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan 15 November 1897 - 06 July 1960 (aged 62) At 9:15 am on Friday, 21st October, 1966, in the Welsh village of Aberfan, an entire coal mountain collapsed under the heavy weight of rain and swept away everything in its path. It destroyed homes and the local primary school. In total, 144 people were killed. 116 of whom were children mostly between the ages of 7 and 10. In the dark Welsh valley, on the mountain side, Lay the little children close to where they died.
