1st Grade What is a School-Parent Compact? Building Partnerships *Come see what your child will learn about this year at Curriculum Night September 6th *All Dads are invited to join our Watch Dog Program September 27th *We are always looking for volunteers. Contact Mrs. Taylor, if you are interested A School-parent Compact is an agreement between parents, students, and teachers. It explains how teachers and families will work together to make sure students are meeting expectations. Communication about Student Learning Rural Hall Elementary has several ways to keep you informed about school-wide events and your child’s learning. Daily communication in GO Notebook Frequent newsletters Curriculum Nights Parent-Teacher Conferences Progress Reports Phone Tree Messages Bus Text Alerts Jointly Developed The parents, students and staff of Rural Hall Elementary developed this School-Parent Compact. Teachers included strategies for student success, parents made suggestions to help clarify information, and students told us what would help them learn. Student Responsibilities Student Achievement Goals School & Teacher Responsibilities District Goals: By 2020, 90 percent of third-grade students will read on or above grade level. By 2018, our graduation rate will be 90 percent. By 2018, we will close the achievement gap between subgroups by 10 percentage points while increasing the performance of all subgroups. School Goals: All students will show an increase of 5% on Reading EOG & DIBELS/TRC. All students will show an increase of 5% on Math EOG. 5th grade students will increase from 68% to 73% on Science EOG. Bullying incidents will decrease from 40.2 to 30.2 on the student safety survey and the parent survey. Daily communication in GO Notebook Newsletters to keep families informed of current objectives Provide Progress Reports in the middle of each quarter Update webpages with links appropriate for 1st graders Provide examples of reading strategies for families to use Student Responsibilities Bring GO Notebook to school daily Share with your family what you have learned at school Come to school with a positive learning attitude Complete classwork and homework assignments Parent Responsibilities Review and sign GO Notebook daily Attend Curriculum Nights and other school-wide events Read nightly with your child Help your child maintain a good attendance record
