Example of a video about the popularity and common consumption of bushmeat This video illuminates how common it is to eat bats in some parts of the world. Fruit bats, however, as well as other species of bat, are common reservoirs for zoonotic disease, including HIV and Ebola. Running time is approximately 5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u5YkHl5f8A

Example of a video about the popularity and common consumption of bushmeat Despite the linkage between bushmeat and Ebola virus, the bushmeat trade has rebounded in west Africa. Restrictions on the sale of bushmeat were put in place in association with the major outbreak a couple of years ago. Now, in 2016, those restrictions have been lifted in all but one country impacted by the outbreak. Health officials consider this a risky move. The article notes that the restriction on bushmeat was hard on families that made a living selling bushmeat. In one country, Guinea, the ban is still in place, but it is generally ignored. “We ate it before Ebola. We eat it after Ebola. Nothing can stop me from eating it,” said Marcel Yombouno in Guinea.
