Presentation transcript:

Monday, October 16 DO NOW: Write homework: 1. complete myth assignment 2. redo, correct, complete study guide from last Monday that was due today. Blue Page under desk Organization time…

Do you want full credit? (rhetorical question)  Of course, we do! Follow directions/instructions. It is much easier to take the time at the beginning instead of having to redo an assignment. Read the sample myth assignment answers from one of the myths.

Make sure you follow directions. The myth assignment should be a 90% grade or higher. WHY? Follow directions! Use complete sentences. A summary means telling the important details of the myth from the beginning to the end. Put part III on a separate page—follow the directions!

Respond to questions in complete sentences. Review complete sentence answers using the language of the question. What are two ways to create sentence variety? Two ways to create sentence variety are ______________ and _________________. (Only writing the ____________ and ____________ will not help you study in the future.)

This myth is from Oceania and Australia. This myth is about a half-mortal named Maui. He is not the smartest, half-god-like, ugly, and he has tattoos all over his body. This myth shows how Maui can get what he wants and changes things through brute force. He wanted to change the sun because the people worked too hard in the little day light. He physically made the sun move slower and changed the sky. Then, he hit his brother in the nose since he would not share and used his blood to catch fish. He caught so many fish that this actually created the Polynesian islands This myth comes from the people of the Pacific. They passed myths orally about journeys and creation the actions of gods, heroes, and animals
