GT Meet Up – Cowcross St 16th March 2017 Sussex Gardens Trust Communicating Our Role in the Planning System Local Delivery in Sussex Jim Stockwell There are three aspects I’d like to share with you Firstly, if we are to be effective in influencing the planning system we need to present a clear, consistent, and professional message Secondly, we need to understand our own strengths and weaknesses and those of the LPAs Thirdly, our resources are limited so we need to decide the most efficient and effective way to develop our relationship with LPAs Presenting a clear, consistent, and professional message This isn't easy because we are a small organisation with unpaid volunteers with varying backgrounds It is important for everyone involved - both those working on the conservation committee and those undertaking research and recording - to understand what we are seeking to achieve To help with this, every couple of years we have organised an Away Day for Council Members, Committee Members and any other members we can persuade to come along   1
