School Support Services What is a School Liaison Officer? The School Liaison Officer (SLO) works as part of the Child & Youth Services (CYS) team, in collaboration with the local school community, to address educational issues involving Military children.

Redstone Arsenal School Support Services Who is a School Liaison Officer (SLO) Support the entire Military-connected Family Military Lifestyle: Information and assistance on dealing with the impact of deployments, reintegration, school transitions, and relocation. Regulations and Legislation: Information and assistance with graduation requirements, Impact Aid, federal lunch program, school redistricting, curriculum, and standard testing. School Support: Information and assistance with special education programs, school policy, school report cards, and emergency contingency plans. College and Career Readiness: Scholarship resource info, college workshops, college tours, and FRIENDS initiative, which fosters student leadership and community involvement.

Redstone Arsenal School Support Services What Does a (SLO) do? Serve as the primary advisor to the Commander on matters relating to schools and school support services Build relationships and facilitate communication among the Command, Army Families, the local school community, and other partners in education Provide School Support Services at the installation Inform and assist parents with school transition and deployment challenges Establish school and community partnerships Facilitate access to home-school resources for Families Provide information about college and other post-secondary opportunities and preparation resources Facilitate and present workshops and briefings on and off the installation Attend school board meetings, seminars, and school related events
