Craigslist Activity

Brainstorm Think items you have that you potentially want to sell. Write. These. Down. You should have AT LEAST FIVE different items.

Next step! Now, narrow your list down to ONE item. You will write an ad for Craigslist, so you need to choose this item wisely.

First Sentence Your first sentence will be the hook. Remember: a hook is meant to draw your reader into what you are writing. Your hook should appeal to your target audience.

But miss, what do you mean by target audience?

If you are selling a green tricycle, who would be your audience?

A person with a child

If you are selling a green tricycle, who would be your audience? A person with a child Probably not an adult with two broken legs. You know, because he/she couldnt use it…

Write 8 Sentences Describe your product Appearance Condition Use Price/Value

Appearance: My tricycle is green. It has three wheels. The tricycle is old. It does not have rust. Condition: The bike is in good condition. It still runs well. It does not need oil. Use: Children will love sitting on the bike. Little kids can ride around the block in the bike. Value/Price: The tricycle costs $25. You cannot put a price on the enjoyment of a child.

Write a Conclusion Sentence This is the last line your potential buyer will read- what impression do you want to leave? How will you really sell this product?
