What is an ecosystem? An ecosystem consists of all of the living things (biotic), as well as all of the non-living things (abiotic) in a given area.
Organism An organism is any living thing such as a tree, human, or bacteria.
Species A species is defined as a group of closely related organisms that are very similar to each other and are usually capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring.
Population All the organisms of the same species which live in the same geographical area at the same time which have the ability to interbreed
Community Different populations of species that interact with one another in an area.
Habitat The environment in which a organism or community lives.
Niche The role (or job) a species has in its environment – how it interacts within its environment.
