ALPR Parking Implementation YouTube Demonstration Problem Congested parking and limited spaces. Takes more time looking for closer spots than walking from further spots. Empty parking space image recognition software is limited. Impact Users will know if a lot is full and waste less time/gas/money searching. System used by transportation department for increased revenue. System could get the driver as close as possible to their destination and enable reservations with further expansion. Used in cooperation with national and state authorities. Approach Use ALPR in conjunction with a screen and/or light ‘drive-through’ parking management system. ALPR records plate entries/exits with timestamps. ALPR automatically decrements free spaces on entry, increments on exit. Drawback - works only on controlled access parking lots unless attached to transit buses w/ GPS or accelerometer. 2/28/2019
