Thursday Warm-up Write about a time you felt very grown up and mature. (Remember, warm-ups are due today.)

Part of Ms. B’s Warm-up: (What is boring about this?) I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home. I was about to begin college at the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson. I decided to live in a dorm room with one of my close friends from high school. I knew it would be a change, but I was ready. On the day I moved out, my aunt helped me pack my luggage in her car. We drove to Tucson together and the rest of my family met me there. I finally said goodbye and I knew I was ready to start my adult life.

How did I begin my sentences? I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home.

Add a transition (connecting) word or phrase: I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home. I was about to begin college at the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson. I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home. This happened when I was about to begin college at the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson.

Combine sentences I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home. I was about to begin college at the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson. I felt very grown up and mature the first time I left home to go to the University of Arizona.

Rearrange the sentence. I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home. I was about to begin college at the University of Arizona, which is in Tucson. I felt very grown up and mature the first time I moved away from home to go to college. The University of Arizona became my new home.

Your Turn!! Add a transition. Combine sentences together. Rearrange the sentence.
