Point of View
Lesson Objective: To be introduced to point of view and how it functions in literature
Definition: Point of View: is the perspective or vantage point, from which a story is told. Three commonly used points of view are first person, third person omniscent, and limited third person. Rarely used: Second Person
Definitions: First Person: The narrator(Person telling the story) uses the pronouns I, me, and we. Third Person Omniscient (Narrator is Like God) (Omniscient) knowing everything : having unlimited understanding or knowledge The narrator is an objective observer that observes everything using pronouns they them for example.
Definitions: Third Person Limited Information is limited to what a single character feels, thinks, and observes. Second Person: Narrator uses the Pronoun you “The author begins the story in the second person with the sentence “You open the door and step into the room.” “Bright Lights Big City.”
