Britton’s and Wilson’s BREAKING NEWSletter May 1st – 5th Announcements Field Trip Money and Permission Slips are due this Wednesday, May 3rd.The cost for students is $5.50 which includes pizza, a milkshake, a cookie, and a bracelet. Chaperones are welcome to come and enjoy a milkshake, a cookie, and a bracelet for $2. Chaperones can eat pizza with us at lunch for NO CHARGE. We leave the school for our field trip at 8:15 on Wednesday, May 10th . They need to wear their school t-shirts, jeans, or shorts that are acceptable for Desoto County Schools, and tennis shoes on our walk. Join Remind by texting @rm8squad to 81010. This is how we send out reminders/announcements. ELA: We will be finishing our Opinion Performance task and Unit 8 of Making Meaning. We will begin studying poetry in writing. Vocabulary: Collaborate: means “work with others to make or do something.” Aggressive: “threatening or ready and eager to fight or attack others.” Evacuate: means “leave a place and go somewhere safer.” Distress: a “feeling of deep sadness, worry, or pain.” Unaggressive: means “not aggressive, or not threatening or ready and eager to fight or attack others.” Considerate: means “thoughtful of the feelings and needs of others.” Math: We will finish 2 step word problems using all 4 operations this Wednesday with our assessment. After that, we will continue to review all 3rd grade skills so that we are prepared for 4th grade Math. We are now practicing our 11’s and 12’s during our fact fluency practice time. We will not test those this year. I can statements: I can tell time to the last minute and calculate intervals of time. I can visualize from a passage. I can ask and answer questions about a passage. I can reread for information. I can recognize a pronoun. Test Dates: Math – Math Assessment over 2 step word problems will be on Wed. May 3rd. 4th Fact Fluency for 4th 9 weeks is Friday, May 5th. Please encourage your child to practice skills on mobymax.com as much as possible! Math Homework – Mon. – Go over your Study Guide for Wednesday’s test. Work on problems that need work. We will go over this tomorrow. Tues. – Go over your Study Guide for tomorrow’s test. Practice what you need to practice. Wed. – Practice your Math facts for Friday’s test. Thurs. – Fact Fluency test #4 is tomorrow. ELA Assessments: Week 26/29 Vocabulary Quiz is on Tuesday, May 2nd. Unit 8 Reading Comprehension Assessment is on Thursday, May 4th. Be sure to encourage your child to read each night. They should be reading at least 20 minutes. ELA Homework – Homework sheet is due on Thursday.
