Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning MacKillop College, Werribee Anzac biscuit task Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning MacKillop College, Werribee

Oracy A major part of oracy is being able to deliver verbal instructions to another person in order to achieve an intended outcome.

Anzac lesson For this activity, you will be partnered with a younger student. You will need to arrange a lesson plan that will take you from explaining what you have covered in the ANZAC unit through to making Anzac biscuits.

Your lesson In groups of 2 or 3, arrange a lesson plan that will run for 100 minutes. Your lesson plan must include the following: - An explanation about the Anzacs and why we have been studying this topic - An explanation about the origin of Anzac biscuits and why we are making them - The method and ingredients list arranged in an easy to read format for your intended audience - A timeline of how your lesson will progress - A risk assessment/OH&S list of possible dangers associated with being in a kitchen - A feedback form for your younger student to complete (appropriate to their age group)

What do you know about anzac? How much do you know about the term ANZAC and what it means? This task looks at the significance behind the term ANZAC and asks you to transfer your research into a format suitable for a junior audience in the form of a storybook.  The following questions/statements will kick-start your research: What does the acronym ANZAC stand for? When and where is ANZAC Day commemorated? Why? Locate Gallipoli and the Kokoda Track on a map Where is the money raised from selling ANZAC badges directed?

What do you know about anzac? Where have Australian troops served in more recent times? What were their duties? How is ANZAC Day different from Remembrance Day? What is the ‘Last Post’ and what is its significance? Explain the game ‘two-up’ and why the soldiers played it Remember that this is a storybook so it needs to be bright and colourful with lots of pictures to keep a junior audience interested.
