Joint Agreement for Use of McKinley School Gymnasium

City Benefit for New Joint Use Office area for City staff including storage for City equipment. Gymnasium can accommodate dance, fitness, and exercise classes, as well as basketball, volleyball and tournaments. Bleachers will accommodate up to 600 spectators. Access to common areas such as lobby, concession area and restrooms. New use includes outside area basketball and volleyball courts. Project part of the McKinley School Master Plan.

The City’s participation in the construction and use of the McKinley gym is contingent upon approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP).   PUSD anticipates that construction of the gym will begin in June, 2012 and be completed and ready for use by the following summer, 2013.

  It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Education authorize the City Manager and the Superintendent to enter into a Joint Use Facilities Agreement for the construction and use of the McKinley School Gymnasium. It is also recommended that the City Council appropriate $1,250,000 for the project upon execution of the Agreement by the City Manager. Questions?
