ASCA 3.0 Model Ginny... In the past 10 years school counselors across the nation have been adopting the ASCA model. It has evolved into the ASCA 3.0 model. When we were given the task to do a “Counseling Review” of our program, we turned to this model. The delivery portion of this model has always been a strong component of our program. In looking at this model, we could see we needed to do a lot of work on the base of this model, to include: Foundation, Management, and Accountability.

American School Counseling Association 3.0 Model Foundation Program Focus: Beliefs, Vision, & Mission Statements Program Goals District / Schools Student Competencies: ASCA Student Standards Professional Competencies: Counselor Competencies, ASCA Ethical Standards Management Assessments: Counselor Competencies, Program, Use-Of-Time Tools: Annual Agreement, Advisory Council, Use of Data, School Profile Data, Program Results Data, Action Plans, Lesson Plans, Calendars Delivery Direct Services: (Face-To-Face) Core Curriculum Individual Planning Responsive Services Indirect Services: (On-Behalf Of) Referrals Consultation Collaboration Accountability Data Analysis: School Data Profile, Use-Of-Time Program Results: Curriculum, Small Group, Closing-the-Gap Evaluation & Improvement: Counselor Competencies Analysis, Program Analysis Counselor Performance Appraisal Ginny... Where do we start? We developed a strategic plan to break down how to start and steps along the way. By the time we were done, we had a three year plan. Now being at the end of the 3 years ... We can say our group has accomplished all of our goals. Do we need to improve and grow? For sure. But we’ve done a lot.
