Fifth Grade Falcons Week of: October 8-12, 2018 Oct. 9 Mini Cheer Camp performance – 6:00 game starts Oct. 11 – Texas Roadhouse Family Night Oct. 12 – No School – Professional Development/Record Keeping Oct. 20 – Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition This week we will continue with Unit 2-Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal Operations -I can write and interpret numerical expressions (8 less than the sum of 12 and 2) -I can use the area model and standard algorithm to multiply 2-digit x 2-digit numbers and 3-digit x 2-digit numbers Quiz: Thursday, October 12th (Lessons 3, 5, 6) Novel: The Birchbark House I can determine cause and effect I can identify character challenges, interactions, and emotions I can use context clues to determine meaning I can integrate info from multiple texts I can identify main idea/supporting details Grade – In class work assignments/Cold Read Tests. Science: We will complete our unit on 'Matter' this week. Students will bring home a study guide and will have test on Wednesday. Grades this week will come from in class assignments and a test on Wednesday. I can identify that matter is made up of particles too small to be seen. Social Studies: We will complete a final in class assessment on the early civilizations. Student grades will be based on an in class writing assignment and assessment. I can read primary sources and answer document based questions. I can write about early civilizations by analyzing primary sources.
