Conflict between North & South We’ve covered a lot of situations during the 1800s in which the North and South argued or threatened each other over. What are some examples?

Dred Scott (1857) Argued he was a free man because he’d lived with owner in free Northern territory for a time.

Dred Scott (1857) Supreme Court: Not free; African Americans do not have rights of citizens; Congress cannot forbid slavery in territories. Worst Supreme Court Decision Ever

John Brown (1859) Slave owners fear northerners are planning slave uprisings everywhere.
