Superstitions in Britain and Korea For Intermediate Level and Above

What is superstition? is a belief that doesn’t make sense in a logical scientific way!

There are 2 main types of superstitions Cultural superstitions Personal superstitions

We shall start with British superstitions

Is this good or bad luck? Walking under a ladder is thought to be very bad luck!

What’s this and is it good or bad luck? Crossed fingers are thought to bring good luck!

Is it good or bad luck? A black cat crossing your path It was once considered bad luck but now considered Good!

13 The number 13 is said to be unlucky What is this date? Is it lucky? Friday the 13th! It is very unlucky. Stay Indoors on this day!

What have they done?? They opened an umbrella indoors! That’s is bad luck!

Do not break a mirror Breaking a mirror can bring you seven years of bad luck

If you think you have said something that is tempting fate, such as ‘my car has never broken down’ you must quickly add “touch wood!” or “knock on wood!”

Can you say something to tempt fate? I have never broken a bone. The titanic is an unsinkable ship!
