Note Duration Whole Note Receives four full beats.

Half Note A half note receives two full beats. This means that two half notes is equal to one whole note. 2 beats + 2 beats = 4 beats

Quarter Note Quarter notes receive one full beat. This means that two quarter notes equal one half note.

Eighth Note Eighth notes receive half of a beat This means that two eighth notes equal one quarter note. One Eighth note Two Eighth notes
