Elective Options for the 2019-20 School Year Music Options Non-Credit Options Credit-Bearing Options Band Technology and Robotics Introduction to 2D Art Choir Computer Graphics Introduction to Computer Science Orchestra Exploratory World Language Preparing for College and Careers Lifetime Fitness Physical Education FACS of Life

Music Band Choir Orchestra Must have been in band in 6th and 7th grade Year-long class At least two concerts and one spring contest occur, all in which attendance is mandatory Choir Open to new members Christmas, Spring, and End of Year concerts have mandatory attendance; Solo and Ensemble contest participation is optional Must audition if want to participate in Advanced Fine Arts (AFA) Orchestra Open to returning musicians as well as new members who are concurrently taking private lessons

Non-Credit Options Technology and Robotics Computer Graphics One semester Hands on, problem based class, CAD, robotics Computer Graphics Allows students to explore and become proficient in multiple programs, image editing, animation & video Exploratory World Language Allows students to explore French, German, and Spanish Lifetime Fitness Will include both physical activity as well as lessons on nutrition and general wellbeing FACS of Life Will cover topics such as Life and Careers, Financial Literacy, Nutrition and Wellness, Human Development, and Relationships. Will possibly design and create a tiny home Required application to be completed online by December 13th

Credit-Bearing Electives Introduction to Two Dimensional Art One semester 2D Art is a prerequisite for all other visual art classes at PHS Explore various 2D medias, critique personal and peer work, and develop vocabulary related to visual art Introduction to Computer Science Focus on the problem solving process related to coding Fulfills one local requirement credit Preparing for College and Careers Explore various college and career options, develop a resume, and schedule and perform a job shadow experience Physical Education Focus on fitness activities such as cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition

Your High School Transcript The academic record of credits earned, courses taken, test scores, and attendance Follows you to other schools and college You will begin creating this at PCMS if taking credit bearing courses Repeating a Course: Higher grade is visible and factors in GPA Lower grade becomes NC* (No Credit) *If a student fails a class at PHS, that grade will remain on the transcript AND will factor into the GPA
