Global Digital Divide The Keepmoat stadium, Doncaster What this presentation covers A short case study of a football stadium to complement the article on the Emirates Stadium in G EOGRAPHY R EVIEW Vol. 27, No. 2. A different example of a sports-led development, this time on a greenfield site. An examination of how one development can feed another the Keepmoat stadium lies alongside a retail development Lakeside Village, Doncaster. Global Digital Divide The Keepmoat stadium, Doncaster Details of the stadium (1) Keepmoat Stadium is a multi-purpose sports stadium in Doncaster, England. It has a a capacity of 15,231 people. The stadium and the wider sports complex that surrounds it cost approximately £32 million to build. It is mainly used by Doncaster Rovers Football Club, but also by Doncaster Rugby League Club and Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies Football Club. In June 2012 Doncaster Rovers FC secured a 99-year operating lease from Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to lead the management of the stadium complex with a view to improving operating results across the stadium sports partnership.

Keepmoat has the rights to the naming of the stadium. A mini-stadium beside the main stadium features a six-lane running track and a 500 seat stand. The mini stadium is used by Doncaster Rovers Belles, Doncaster Rovers reserves, Doncaster Athletics Club, Doncaster RLFC's academy team, and the Doncaster Mustangs American football team. Global Digital Divide The Keepmoat stadium, Doncaster Location of the stadium The stadium is next to Doncaster Lakeside, a 1990s leisure and business development 3 km to the southeast of Doncaster town centre. It is a key design element of the development is a 20-ha man-made lake on the site of a former airfield and refuse dump. The lake was completed in The lake not only provides an amenity but was also used as a resource to provide fill material to bring marshy land to the south above flood level. A major retail development, Doncaster Lakeside Village, has been built nearby.
