State Key Testing Laboratory of Wine and Alcohol Beverage (Guangdong) Introduction State Key Testing Laboratory of Wine and Alcohol Beverage (Guangdong) Gallo produces amazing wines in every category, to suit every taste.  Gallo also imports wines from nine wine growing countries in the world.  Gallo’s wine portfolio totals over 60 unique brands: Barefoot is the number 1 wine in the US and has introduced many new wine drinkers to the wine category. In 2011 alone we updated the Bella Sera Label and updated the Redwood Creek Label. Last year we also introduced The Naked Grape from California and Bodega Elena from Argentina. Focused on three fields: Our History The Lab was established and operated in 2010 in Huangpu, Guangdong (CIQ). The lab was approved to be State Key lab in 2011 by AQSIQ. Focused on three fields: Chemical analyses; Microbiological issues; Sensory assessment; Gallo produces amazing wines in every category, to suit every taste.  Gallo also imports wines from nine wine growing countries in the world.  Gallo’s wine portfolio totals over 60 unique brands: Barefoot is the number 1 wine in the US and has introduced many new wine drinkers to the wine category. Our Facilities: 1. Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS); The Key lab has instruments and equipments 120 units (sets), total value is more than 20,000,000 Yuan, the main instruments: 1. Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS); 2. Inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP-OES); 3. Liquid chromatography (HPLC); 4. Ultra Performance Liquid-Chromtography (UPLC);

Our Facilities 5. Gas chromatograph (GC); 6. Gas chromatograph mass spectrometry (GC-MS); 7. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP/MS); 8. IRMS (-Flash EA/GC/HPL/GasBench), etc. 9. QE(Q-Extractive/Thermo)

IRMS:

Our Team Our lab has a wonderful and passion team. People mainly graduated from food science and engineering, viticulture and enology, holding bachelor degree, master degree and Ph.D. degree. Meanwhile, they hold certification in WSET level 3 or above.

Accreditation State Key testing Laboratory of wine and Alcohol Beverage (Guangdong) is accredited by CNAS-CL01 (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, CNAS), which is equal to (ISO/IEC17025:2005). Our current Scope of Accreditation for the lab’s facility covers all methods which concerning China’s standard of grape wine.

Main Tasks 1. Legal inspection tasks According to Food-Safety law, Quality and Safety Law of Agricultural Products and others concerning law of People’s Republic of China, all import wine and other alcohol beverage must comply with the standards of quality, safety and sensory quality. The key lab inspects all items concerning wine and alcohol beverage’s quality and safety, including metal items, chemical additive, microbiological issues.

2. Finish research programs, establish standards, provide professional training, etc In 2012, the key lab and college of viticulture and enology Northwest A&F University (which is the first wine college in Asian) built long–term technology cooperating relationship “Inspection-Research”. As teaching- practices basement, the key lab and wine college cultures and engineer master together, meanwhile, both of them undertake research projects about wine quality and safety, adulterated wine and establish wine concerning standards.

Research Projects: 1. Developed New Methods: The key lab develop new analytical methods for wine and alcohol beverage, including mycotoxin contamination. Right now, Ph.D. chemists/ enologist/ professors are dedicated to these field.

International Collaboration: The key lab enjoys close relationships with wine laboratories and Universities through the world. Collaboration with these partners provides the key lab with a global view of wine and alcohol beverage problems and challenges while demonstrating our accuracy and reliability to the world wine and alcohol beverage market.
