TECSOL Teaching English to Child Speakers of Other Languages. TECSOL is an intensive 5-week teacher training course for non-native English speakers where you study both the theory and practice of English Language Teaching to children aged between 6 and 12 years old. This NZQA approved course is based on best practice in communicative language teaching and includes peer teaching as well as a visit to a local primary school. It also prepares students for the TKT YL module awarded by Cambridge English Teaching Qualifications. The entry requirements for this course are: Upper –Intermediate (B2) to Advanced (C1) or IELTS 5.0, or subject to interview Meet the NZLC application criteria. Aged 18 or over. TECSOL Course Contents: Methodology based on current trends and theories of language acquisition. TKT YOUNG LEARNERS: 2017 Course Dates: 2018 Course Dates:  TKT: Young Learners (80 minutes / 80 questions) What is TKT: Young Learners? TKT: Young Learners is a test of the knowledge of the strategies and skills required to teach young learners. It is suitable for international teachers working, or intending to work, in the primary sector of education. What does TKT: Young Learners test? TKT: Young Learners tests the background knowledge related to teaching young learners in the 6–12 age range. It also tests understanding of planning lessons, different teaching strategies and assessing learning. The test is divided into four parts: Learning and development in young learners. Planning lessons for young learners. Teaching strategies for young learners. Classroom-based assessment for young learners. 2017 Course Dates: TECSOL Auckland + (TKT Young Learners Module Dates) 7 Feb – 10 Mar (10 Mar) 18 Apr – 19 May (19 May) 26 Jun – 28 Jul (28 Jul) 4 Sep – 6 Oct (6 Oct) 13 Nov – 15 Dec (15 Dec) TECSOL Fees: Enrolment Fee: $200. TECSOL 5 week course: $2500. Material Fee: $100.   TKT Fees: TECSOL TKT Young Learner - $120. Additional postage fee. Reissuing of TKT Certificate: Cambridge University cannot reissue Cambridge TKT certificates. NZLC TECSOL certificates and reports can be issued at a cost of $50 per page. 2018 Course Dates: TECSOL Auckland + (TKT Young Learners Module Dates) 5 Feb – 9 Mar (9 Mar) 16 Apr – 18 May (19 May) 25 Jun – 27 Jul (27 Jul) 3 Sep – 5 Oct (5 Oct) 12 Nov – 14 Dec (14 Dec) TKT Booking & Payment Options: Your enrolment is accepted when your applicant test fee is received. Full payment is required at least 7 weeks in advance of your test date (failure to do so will result in your booking being cancelled). Cancellations can be accepted no less than 7 weeks prior to the test date with a cancellation fee of $50. can be accepted no less than 7 weeks prior to the test date with a cancellation fee of $50. Postponements will only be accepted 5 weeks prior to the test date with a surcharge of $50. Late applications can be accepted with full payment of the test fee plus a late fee of $30 per module. NO changes to applicant details are possible less than 7 weeks prior to the test date.   What to bring on your TKT test date: Photo ID (passport / International Student ID / Driver’s license) & An eraser and pencil to write with. What is the test date schedule? TKT Young Learners – 2.00 p.m. - 3.20 p.m. When will the certificate arrive? Approximately 5 – 6 weeks after the date of the test.
