If the students can’t wear it – neither can you! What is Appropriate? Appropriate dress typically includes: Slacks or khakis Dress shirt or blouse Open-collar or polo shirt Optional tie or seasonal sport coat Dress or skirt at knee-length or below Tailored blazer, knit shirt or sweater Loafers or dress shoes that cover all or most of the foot. Good advice: Over dress for the first few days until you see what other teachers are wearing! If the students can’t wear it – neither can you!
What is NOT Appropriate? Inappropriate dress: Jeans that are raggedy or have holes Flip-flops (varies by workplace – check first) Mid-riff should not show. T-shirts with offensive words or logos Skirts that are too form fitting or too short No underwear should show (either gender). Shorts of any kind. Sundresses or tank tops w/straps thinner than 2”. Others: No sweat pants or anything worn at the gym, slippers, crop tops, etc. Good advice: Use good judgement! If you’re in doubt – don’t wear it!
Yes or No? On your hand-out, indicate which choices you feel would be appropriate to wear, as a teacher, in most school buildings in Ottawa County. If you indicate a ‘no’ – please indicate why you do not feel it is appropriate.
