We are ALL LiveWell Greenville! June 2018 Building a Culture of in Greenville County Health HEALTHY EATING ACTIVE LIVING DID YOU KNOW? 740 youth have already registered for Park Hop Scavenger Hunt which began May 19! Kelly Frazier with Furman University is introducing FUEL, a plate-based approach to healthy eating at the August Worship networking session. LWG partners are working with Harvest Hope to develop a healthy options list for the food bank. Park Hop Partners have planned 4 Park Play Days this summer – June 22 at Sunset Park, July 13 at Northside Park, July 20 at Holmes Park and July 27 Kids Planet,10am to noon. This addition to Park Hop, introduced for the first time last year, was very successful, with each event attracting 200-300 participants. This year’s Play Days will be broadcast on facebook live! OUT OF SCHOOL EARLY CHILDHOOD AT WORK AT WORSHIP AT SCHOOL CATCH training was held May 31 to help OST providers prepare for summer camps. Directors and staff from 10 OST providers participated in the training. EC workgroup has completed the goals on its current Community Action Plan, and is developing new plan for post pilot era. Post-pilot impact data is being collected from the 9 pilot sites.   Partners are preparing to present on Open Use Agreements for GCSD staff at Summer Academy. Data from LWG’s foundational Parks and Environmental Justice study will be used to illustrate parks and play desert areas near schools. Eight faith communities, were represented at the Pastor’s Breakfast on May 31. These 8 churches and the workgroup are working towards a full At Worship orientation and on-boarding planned for August 8. Corporate members are continuing membership renewal process. Networking session focused on translating data into goals will be June 27. We are ALL LiveWell Greenville!

The action plan for Year 2 of HPHC has been submitted for review and approval. 934 Park Hop page likes LiveWell Greenville ROLES: Connect Convene Support Facilitate Evaluate Fund Development: LWG submitted a full proposal with Project HOPE of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation focusing on Early Childhood Efforts on May 31. After careful consideration, LWG will NOT be submitting a proposal to the CDC for the REACH Grant opportunity. Evaluation: LWG OST has a manuscript under review by Dr. Karen Kemper in Preventing Chronic Disease. Dr. Shaniece Criss’ abstract about LWG communication and partnership engagement has been accepted for presentation at APHA.
