Unit #1: Earning Income

Todays Learning Goal: I will be able to calculate the amount earned from a range of different income situations.

There are several different ways that employers can pay you: 1. Hourly wage getting paid per hour of work (currently is $12.65/hr) minimum wage will further rise to at least $13.85 on June 1st, 2019, to $14.60 on June 1st, 2020 and to $15.20 on June 1st, 2021. 2. Piecework getting paid per item completed Example: $0.25/bucket of apples, or $3 per hem of a dress 3. Salary getting paid per year Paid out on a fixed schedule (for example the 15th and 30th of each month) Example: $35,000 annually

There are several different ways that employers can pay you: 4. Commission getting paid a % extra based on amount of sales Example  you earn 5% of whatever you sell 5. Extra earnings - tips and overtime getting paid time and a half, or a percent of bill Examples  servers get 15% tip on the amount of the bill Example  for working on Good Friday you get paid time and a half 6. Contract work getting paid one lump sum per job Example  you get paid $5,000 to put the roof on
