DeWitt High School Interact Club Sponsored by the Lansing and DeWitt Sunrise Rotary Club

Interacts Mission Complete at least two projects each year, one of which must be an international project, encouraging understanding and goodwill. Through these projects participants will: Develop leadership skills and personal integrity Demonstrate helpfulness and respect for others Understand the value of individual responsibility and hard work Advance international understanding and goodwill

Our Projects Several of our projects occur annually. This strengthens relationships with community organizations such as Volunteers of America and local churches. As an Interact requirement we must complete at least one international project each year.

Thanksgiving Basket Delivery Each year before Thanksgiving, DeWitt High School Interact Club delivers baskets of food which are assembled our sponsoring Rotary Club. The purpose of this event is to deliver food to families in need, but to also strengthen the relationship between or Interact Club with our local Rotary Club.

Clothing Drive Our club sponsors a clothing drive for Volunteers of America each winter, which encompasses all of the schools in our district. The goal of this project is to get younger students involved in an interact project, which hopefully will encourage them to join interact club in the future.

Spring Fling To help citizens of DeWitt directly, Interact hosts the Spring Fling, a yard clean up for elderly or disable citizens. Usually the DHS football team helps with the project.

Peru Mission Trip In the summer of 2008 the Co-Presidents of our club attended a two week mission trip in Peru to help American doctors provide eye care to the residents of Huamachuco and the surrounding areas.

Current Project: Cans Make Cents Recently, DeWitt High School lost a very special student, sophomore Brandon Gordon after a two year battle with cancer. Our club has responded to this with the organization of the event Cans Make Cents. Our goal is to fill the bowl outside of DHS with returnable pop cans and bottles, and then donated all proceeds to the Gordon family.

Fundraising To pay for project expenses such as advertising, postage, and other miscellaneous fees our club works at concessions during athletic events.

Rose Fundraiser Another way our club raises money for projects is a rose sale. During lunch before Valentines Day, DHS students preorder roses for their friends. Then, on Valentines Day the roses are delivered by Interact members to students in their homeroom classes.

Thank You for your continued support of Interact Club!
