Institutional approaches that bridge public and animal health sectors at national level replace traditional focus on regulating individual production systems, shifting to one of ensuring confidence overall regulatory frameworks at all levels
Guide to Good Farming Practices APFS WG documents in progress Guide to Good Farming Practices help competent authorities and stakeholders, especially farmers covers the “farm end” of the food chain the recommendations complement the responsibilities of the competent authorities at the farm level
Coordination with Codex Alimentarius Codex Alimentarius is responsible for developing standards on food safety and public health, while OIE is responsible for standards for animal health and zoonoses. Increased collaboration between OIE and CAC will ensure standards that bridge public and animal health interests in the ‘production to consumption continuum’.
