Garbage Garbage is collected from your black garbage bin once every two weeks. They use t0 collect garbage very week but now they reduced the amount of garbage by making a green garbage bin where you put all your compost in.

Facts about garbage -Garbage produces emissions -Almost everything that goes in the garbage can go in compost or recycling -garbage is just put in a big pile -it takes 1 million years for glass to decompose -plastic takes 10-100 years to decompose

Compost Compost is good for the environment because it saves water by helping the soil hold moisture and reduce water. It benefits the environment by recycling organic resources while conserving landfill space.

Facts about Compost -Composting is the act of recycling food and yard waste - dead plants and food scraps decompose and return to the soil - Compost can be used as fertilizer - It reduces the amount of pollution

Facts about recycling -Up to 60% of the garbage can could be recycled. -The unreleased energy contained in the average garbage can each year could power a television for 5,000 hours. -The largest lake in the Britain could be filled with garbage. -16% of the money you spend on a product pays for the packaging, which ultimately ends up as garbage. -Up to 80% of a vehicle can be recycled. Facts about recycling

Dell turns-waste into new treasures. Dell has announced an industry-first pilot to use recycled gold from used electronics in new computer motherboards, which will ship in the award-winning Latitude 5285 2-in-1s starting this spring. The pilot follows a successful feasibility study on server motherboards. The closed-loop gold process could support the creation of millions of new motherboards in the next year. It expands Dell’s closed loop programme from plastics to precious metals. Ronan Leonard January 15,2018.

Recycling Technology Phones: Take your old broken phone to a local retailer for free recycling. Find a list of locations at Call2Recycle. Especially remove all personal information on your phone. Computers:1. Remove all data. 2.unplug all cords from your cpu. 3.After everything is done take it to your local tech recycle place.

Facts about recycling technology -In 2009 recycled tech totaled about 2.37 million short tons. -E-waste represents 2% of usa’s landfills. -20-50 metric tons are thrown out worldwide every year -Phones have precious metals like gold and silver. Americans throw out phones containing 60 million dollars in gold and silver

Reducing waste facts and benefits -Over 380,000 litres of paint collected and diverted from landfills in under two years -In 2013, almost 3,300 tonnes of old electronic recycled -18.74 million litres of used oil and over 2 million oil filters were recycled -reducing waste saves energy

Landfills (in general, and Calgary ones) There are at least 2400 landfills in Canada and 3 landfills in Calgary. They are located in spyhill landfill, shepard landfill and the east calgary landfill.
