This presentation is intended to walk you through connecting your Android mobile device to the eduroam wireless network on campus, as well as helping you set up your Clemson email on your device. In order to access the eduroam network you will need to be on campus in a building with the eduroam network. We will be walking through these steps on a device running Android version 4. If you are on a different device or operating system, the images may look a little different but you should still be able to follow along and get the same end result.

Once Wi-Fi is turned on, tap on the words “Wi-Fi” to open your Wi-Fi settings. This will take you to the next page where you can select the Wi-Fi network that you would like to connect to. It may take a few moments for this list to populate. Once the list populates you will see “eduroam” as one of the available networks. Note that in order to see and connect to the eduroam network you must be on campus and in a building that has access to this network. Select eduroam by tapping on it.

Next, type in your Clemson password In “username” field type in your Clemson username followed by “@clemson.edu” Next, type in your Clemson password Once you have selected the eduroam network, your device will automatically take you to the next screen asking for your username and password. To login to eduroam, type in your Clemson user name @clemson.edu under the identity field. It is very important in this step of the process that your username is followed by @clemson.edu NOT g.clemson.edu. After you have typed in your username, type in your password in the password field. Again, this is your Clemson password and could be a different password than the one you use to access your email through gmail. You can leave the “anonymous identity” field blank. Once you have successfully entered your username and password, select “Done”.

After you have selected “Connect”, your device will automatically progress to the next screen. Once it does this you should see that the eduroam network says “Connected” underneath it, verifying that your device is connected to eduroam.

Next we will look at how to set up your Clemson student email on your Android mobile device. Select the back arrow in the top left corner of your screen where it says “Wi-Fi”. This will take you back out to your main settings page.

Once you are back to your main settings page on your device, scroll down until you see “accounts”. Select “add account” to open the settings page where you can add your Clemson email account. Once on the “add account” page, select Google.

Once you have selected “Google” you will progress to a page asking if you want to use an existing account for create a new one. Because your Clemson email account already exists, we will use the “existing” option. This will take you the next screen where you can enter your email information.

Note that your email should be your Clemson username @g.clemson.edu. It is very important that you put @g.clemson.edu or Google will not recognize your email address. Once you have typed in your email address and password, select “done” in the lower right corner of the keyboard.

After entering your email and password, you will be prompted to accept the Google terms of service. Select “Ok” to accept the Google terms of service. After selecting “Ok”, your device will begin signing in to your Clemson Google account. This may take a few moments to finalize.

After your device has successfully signed in to your account, it may ask you if you’d like to backup it up to your Google account and if you would like to allow Google to email you news and information. By default both of the these options may be selected or checked. You can turn off either of the feature, depending on your preference, by tapping the blue check mark to uncheck the box. Once you have made your selections, tap on the arrow pointing to the right in the lower right hand corner of your screen. This will take you back to your main settings page. You can then select the button in the middle of the bottom of your screen to take you back to your home screen.

Once on your home screen you can select the mail app icon to open and view your Clemson email.
