PART-TIME HOURLY SUPERVISOR TRAINING Presented By: Becky Rawlings, HR Director October 5, 2011

Hourly Pay Rates Support Assistant $8.84/hour Support Associate Other rates require approval by the HR Director

Breaks/lunch If a part-time hourly or student works MORE than 5 hours they MUST take a unpaid 30 minute break/lunch. If it does not state on their timesheet that a break was taken when they work more than 5 hours, payroll will deduct 30 minutes.

Student vs. Non-Student Student if registered in 6 or more credits after 10th day Each quarter (after 10th day), call Debbie Adams (x3362) or Human Resources (x3403 or x3405) to verify Student hours are not tracked – Only hourly employees

Pt hourly authorization form (blue form) If payroll does not have a blue form on file, the employee will not get paid, regardless if we have a timesheet. It’s your responsibility as a supervisor to make sure that the blue form is submitted prior to the employee working.

70 hours – per month – Retirement The Number Watch 70 hours – per month – Retirement 350 hours – 12 month period - Union Representation 480 hours – 6 month average - Health Insurance

Retirement 70 hours or more 5 times in any non-consecutive 12 month period (1 year “grace period”) Start of 6 month of second year Position, not a person

350 hours in a 12-month period = Union dues – Employee Chooses: Union Representation 350 hours in a 12-month period = Union dues – Employee Chooses: 1.07% of gross – non-member but represented (can’t vote), or; 1.5% of gross - full-member College’s opinion on this

Health Insurance $850 per month out of department budget Average of 80 hours per month in a consecutive 6 month period (480 total hours) Ex: January-June, February-July $850 per month out of department budget Continues until complete break in service for one month Goes retro back to start of 7th month

Health Insurance continued HR cannot run reports until mid-month – after the fact Late timesheets – go towards the same month they are submitted Questions? Contact Becky (x3404) or Kristi (x3405)

Final Thoughts Multiple supervisors Work with employee and other department to share hours 69 hours in a month – the “key” number Ensures that employee stays under maximum hour totals for benefits and retirement
