The Arrival: Chapter IV Silently… read the next chapter.

How does this chapter begin? Compare it to the start of Chapter III. What is different? Why? What is similar? What difficulties might somebody have getting a job in another country where the language is very different?

Meeting new people The main character meets lots of different people, all with their own stories to tell. Who does he meet in this Chapter? Add his name/description to your Cast List. Look again at Chapter IV. Find two pictures of the same place that are also very different. How does this chapter end?

Writing to inform and explain: Creating an Alien Pastime Look again at the final picture in Ch IV. Using Plasticine and a sheet of A3, recreate the ‘board’ and pieces the characters play with at the end of Chapter IV. Discuss in your groups of 3 what the rules might be and how to play. Feedback to the group. Main Task: Write, as simply and briefly as possible, the rules for your new game!
