Systems Integration of Xerographic Test Fixture 20092-20093 Lam Nguyen Daniel Prosser Adam Regula Steve Snyder Amar Mohammed Guides: (ISE) (ME) (ME) (ME) (EE) Mike Zona, Bill Nowak Customers: Marcos Estermann, John Knapp Mission Statement Make existing test fixture operational Integrate printer with user interface to allow full control of fixture and acquisition of data Motivation Fixture to be used for teaching purposes in courses based on xerography Also for R&D Main Customer Needs Biggest concerns lie in safety, overall functionality of fixture, and affinity for being used to teach xerography in a classroom setting Xerographic Process Project Design Process Flow Main Customer Needs Safety Charging Station Exposure Station Development Station Pre-Transfer Erase Transfer Station Control limits hardcoded into LabView Interface for various voltages and velocities Functionality Determined range of power supply voltages, carriage velocity, and exposure times Constructed dark enclosure in order to operate fixture in everyday settings Apply uniform charge to photoreceptor Light reduces voltage in exposed area of photoreceptor Apply charged toner particles to photoreceptor Normalize voltage on photoreceptor Transfer toner from photoreceptor to paper Educational Use Interface and fixture made easy to use with documentation and simple visual signals LabView User Interface Dark Enclosure Test fixture with dark enclosure attached in order to minimize light sources User interface allows for varying controls and data acquisition Dark Decay Test Data Operability Testing Looking for voltage drops in between ESVM’s, adequate dark decay under various settings, amount of toner on paper at end of xerographic process Testing automated for the most part through the LabView interface Allows for use of preset inputs and controls through .ini text files Allows for recording of test results in tabled Excel format Charge Substation Test Data Results/Conclusions Development of a user friendly computer interface Increased functionality of existing test fixture Building of dark enclosure to improve usability Acknowledgements -Xerox Corporation, Kodak Corporation -Mike and Bill Marcos Estermann John Arney Dale Mashtare Design review attendees Jeff Additional Information - http://edge.rit.edu/content/P10503/public/Home
