Friday January 13, 2017 Many people told her it was impossible four a woman to be a doctor, but Elizabeth Blackwell proved them wrong. First, she atended New York’s Geneva Medical College. Than in january 1849, she became the first women in America to earn an M.D degree. Blackwell helped open the New York Infirmary for Women and Children, which provided training for women doctor’s and medecal care for the poor. Even after she retired from medicine, she continue to support womens rights.
