Graduation requirements for the Class of 2021 (24 credits) GPA Minimum 2.0 Service Hours Minimum 20 hours Language Arts English 1,2,3,4 Mathematics 4 Credits: Must include Algebra 1 and Geometry Science 3 credits: Physical science, Bio 1, science elective Social Studies 3 credits: US History, World History, Econ and Am Govt. How are Grade Point Averages (GPA) and Honor Point Averages Calculated? Regular classes A= 4.00 B= 3.00 C= 2.00 D= 1.00 F= 0.00 These point values are the GPA (unweighted) you see on your report card and on your transcript and show your performance in each course you take. The cumulative GPA is the collection of all the points for all the time you have taken courses. Honors classes A= 4.50 B= 3.37 C= 2.25 D= 1.12 F= 0.00 These point values are the HPA (weighted GPA) you see on your transcript and are only there if you have taken an honors course. These point values help build your rank in class. Rank is how you compare as a student with the other students in your grade level. Keys to Success Be in every class, every day and be on time. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Be organized and use a student planner/calendar. Be a strong time manager. Be successful in class and take good notes. Be prepared by doing your homework. Be a good test taker by preparing and studying daily. Be an active listener and strong communicator. Opportunities for College Credit Advanced Placement Courses/AP Capstone: Students who complete these courses may receive college credit if a score of 3 or more is achieved in the national test given in May. Credits count for High School and may count for college. AICE Courses/AICE Diploma: Students who complete these courses may receive college credit if they pass the AICE exam in May. Credits count for high school and may count for college. Earning 7 AICE credits and passing those 7 exams may qualify students for the Bright Futures Scholarship. Dual Enrollment: Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher can apply. The credits count for both high school and college. DE courses are free and so are the books and fees. Remember that these courses become part of the college transcript and can impact eligibility for financial aid and admission to college.
