Nature/Nurture/Bonding

Draw your own conclusion (#2) Nature (heredity) - Individual heredity and genetics. These explain who the person is and why they do what they do. Draw your own conclusion (#2) Nurture (environment) - The influences of the environment through love, support, attention, and encouragement. Begins at birth. Draw your own conclusion (#4)

NURTURE Bonding: Forming strong emotional ties between a parent and a child Ex: Long loving looks, loving touches, animated face and voice, consistency, responsiveness, sensitivity, being in-tune. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Infants deprived of loving contact may suffer slower cognitive development Bonding is critical and should begin as soon as the parent can hold the child! How long should bonding last? It’s a life-long process!
