Sample Materials English Language Arts and Reading is a very large adoption Anticipate arrival of samples and determine a location for materials to be reviewed Expected arrival date of sample materials is November 5-9 IIT and Academic Deans are the Point of Contact for distribution IIT and Academic Deans are the Point of Contact for distribution 4

Committee Composition Elementary Campus One teacher from each campus One additional teacher from each dual language campus Principal will submit teacher names and any potential parent names using the google form no later than October 26, 2018. Conflict of Interest Committee members and teachers must confirm that there is no conflict of interest and that they have not received directly or indirectly any compensation from any of the publishers for any of the materials being reviewed. For the protection of all, a conflict of interest form will be embedded in the straw vote process 8

Conflict of Interest EFAA (LEGAL) “A trustee, administrator, or teacher commits an offense if the person accepts a gift, favor, or service……. This would include dinners, gift cards. Exception would include ancillary materials such as student materials related to the learning process.      DBD (LEGAL) states the penalty for instructional materials violations:  “A person commits a Class C misdemeanor offense if the person knowingly violates any law providing for the purchase or distribution of free instructional materials for the public schools.” Education Code 31.153 9
