Fig. 1 Sequence of the amelogenin amplification products from the proband. The amelogenin amplicons from the proband were cloned and a number of recombinants were sequenced. Two sequences corresponding to the Y and X chromosome localised copies of the amelogenin gene are shown in the top two panels. The lowest panel shows an alignment of the Y and X chromosome amelogenin sequences, which highlights single base differences between the two sequences (vertical arrows) and the 6bp deletion in the X chromosome sequence.
