Survey of Genesis: Patriarchal History Jacob (28:10-36) Jacob's Sons Kill the Men of Shechem (34:1-31) Dinah is raped by Shechem (same as town), son of Hamor the Hivite Shechem wants her as a wife so Hamor asks Jacob for his son to marry Dinah (34:23 gives an idea why Abram & Isaac lied when confronted by powerful people) Jacob's sons are angry about the disgrace so the people in the area offer them a place to stay in their land and to intermarry and Shechem offers any bride price The brothers hatched a plan (Simeon and Levi) Demand the men be circumcised as part of the bride price On the third day when in a lot of pain the brothers kill them and loot their belongings (other brothers help loot)

Jacob went to Shechem, & Esau returned to Hebron After 20 years, Jacob left for home & was overtaken by Laban near Mahanaim. Jacob went to Hama (Hamath), Aleppo, and finally Haran.
