Tip Sheet: Address Validation through the Save button The QAS address service. Validating a county address through the Save button On Your Radar As a part of Transformation, we have consolidated ~20 address fields down to 5 fields to make inputting addresses more user friendly and efficient. The address validation service for updated CBMS does not validate until the user clicks the Save button – Clicking the Save button will advance the user into the Application queue, at which point they can move forward to Address Clearance. Reminder: Address Clearance does not validate the address. It only checks whether anyone else in the system has the same home address. Note: Address validation through the Save button is not a new process. As is currently, there is an address validation service in CBMS that can produce mis-matched address validations. 1 Note: In the above example, the user has incorrectly selected Adams county instead of Denver county (after entering the street address, city, state, and zip code). Tip Sheet: Address Validation through “Save” (page 3) Validating a county address through the Save button If the user does not complete the County and QAS validates: The county will automatically populate after the user clicks the Save button. If the user does complete the County and QAS validates: After the user clicks the Save button, if the county was entered correctly by the user, it will remain the same. After the user clicks the Save button, if the county was entered incorrectly by the user, it will automatically update to the correct county. Example: If the user does not select Denver as the ‘county’ field for an address located in Denver and clicks the Save button, the county will automatically populate with Denver. Example: A) If the user enters Denver county and it is the correct county for the address, Denver will remain the same after the user clicks the Save button.

ADDRESS QUICK TIPS/REMINDERS Appendix ADDRESS QUICK TIPS/REMINDERS Is the address you are looking for not showing up? Keep on manually typing the full address if the one you are looking for does not automatically populate. The address validation service may require more characters than you may be used to typing in for Google Maps or other platforms. Why am I seeing other states populating in the address field? Addresses from outside of Colorado will show up in the Suggested Addresses. Is the client homeless with a General Delivery or County Office address? If a client is homeless and chooses to receive their mail by General Delivery, type that in for Address Line 1 and then enter the City, State, and Zip Code. If a client is homeless and the client and county have agreed that the client will get their mail at the county office, then select ‘yes’ when ‘County Office Used as Mailing Address’ appears and select the county office from the drop down menu. Once this is done, the county’s mailing address will auto-populate into Address Line 1, Address Line 2 (if applicable), City, State, and Zip Code. Reminder: QAS only validates addresses that the postal service uses (an address that is not recognized does not always mean it is undeliverable; Colorado addresses often have a unique format that must be used). Reminder: The County field is not mandatory at the time the user enters the address. This will be auto-populated after the address is validated. Reminder: Double check the complete address to ensure the information is correct after filling out all of the necessary address fields.
