Volunteer and Partnership at Swanson MS

Who is Considered a Volunteer? Volunteers are NON-APS employees who donate their time regularly in schools to assist with activities that enhance instruction, promote learning, and provide support to students and staff. Examples: high school students, parents, and community members

Who is considered a Partner? Partners are volunteers that are associated with a particular business or organization. Example: churches, businesses, nonprofit organizations

Parent Chaperones Parents who wish to chaperone field trips must be processed as a volunteer to ensure safety of all students Processed applicants are valid for the duration of student’s time at Swanson

Teacher/Staff Procedure who seek Volunteers If you are seeking a volunteer to work in your class or attend a field trip: Provide parents or volunteers the application with sufficient time for processing ( we recommend 3-4 weeks) Email a list of parent volunteers to the V&P liaison for all field trips 2 weeks prior to field trips

Procedures Those interested in volunteering or developing a Partnership with Swanson must do the following: Fill out the Volunteer Form located in the Main Office or on the website Signed Confidentiality Form Consent Form for volunteers under the age of 18. Emergency Contact Three References (ex: employer, colleague, other Swanson parents) Turn in forms to V&P Liaison 2 weeks prior to scheduled activity. Schedule Orientation Sign in at the Main Office everytime you volunteer here with us!

Things to Know All Volunteers are vetted through the Family Watchdog website annually. All Volunteers must complete Safeschools Training All volunteers and partners must sign in at the Main Office on the Volunteer Sheet.
